LESSON 5: TRACKING YOUR MARKETING
Before you start marketing your website you will need to set up some tracking so that you can see how effective your marketing is.
WEBSITE TRACKING
Your hosting may include website tracking or it is often tracked through by your website manager. Google offers a free tracking system that is easy to install called:
Google Analytics
Google Analytics
Tracking will tell you how traffic is getting to your website. Google Analytics offers information like: numbers of visitors, what pages are visited, how long do they stay on each page, how many bounce off, what search engines sent them, how many are direct, referring websites, keywords used to find you, how many unique visitors etc.
ANALYZE YOUR STRATEGY
Here is the fun part! Your marketing efforts will need to be analyzed on a monthly basis in order to be effective. You can learn to do this yourself or have your web manager send you a marketing analysis each month. This report will give you insight as to where to put your marketing efforts for next month. You may need to adjust your website content, targeted keyword phrases or Search Engine Marketing to improve your results.
PLANNING A NEW STRATEGY
Marketing can always be improved. You will need to plan a plot a new strategy each month to keep in the top ten of Google. Google is always changing the rules to keep us on our toes and the rules are secret. Good luck!
