LESSON 6: BLOGGING AS MARKETING

Now that you have all the marketing elements on your website. It is time start marketing it on the web. To do this you will be writing short ads and posting them on other websites so that you can create a web of links leading back to your website.


BLOGGING

Blogging is a great way to educate your customers about your product and show your expertise in your field. A blog is like a mini-magazine that people can subscribe to on a topic that interests them. A blog is typically made up of short articles that are written on a consistent basis. Many blogs have a comment area where readers can participate in the topic. A blog should be updated at least once a week to keep the interest of the readers. The articles should be short and contain three to 24 senrences.


BLOG PLATFORMS

A great way to get the word out about your product is to set up several promotional blogs on blog search platforms like: squidoo.com & blooger.com. This is in addition to your main blog that is connected to your website.


GUEST BLOGGING

You can also leave a comment on your favorite blogs. This will create additional back links to your site. Look for blogs with readers that would be interested in your topic.


BLOG READERS

You can sign up for a blog reader service. This will help you keep up with your favorite blogs and help further your education in your field. bloglines.com & Google Reader are 2 of the very best.


TWITTER

Twitter is a mini blog. You can post announcements of your blogs and gain a loyal following. Many people are now using Twiiter to conduct topic searches to find local information.


PRESS RELEASES

A press release is an announcement article that is posted to an online magazine. You will need to submit a quality article for it to be accepted. Two popular sites are newsvine.com & ezinearticles.com.


YOU TUBE

YouTube.com has become the second search site, second only to Google. Posting entertaining videos will bring more traffic to your site. You can also put your YouTube videos on your website to make it more interesting.


SOCIAL POSTING

After you write a blog entry you may want to submit it to a Social Posting site to increase it's popularity. To find some good tag sites go to: socialposter.com & socialmarker.com.


RSS FEEDS

You can create an RSS feed so that your readers can easily subscribe to your blog. Your blog posts will automatically be sent to their blog reader. Put the RSS symbol next to each blog post on your website.
